Here are fireworks which should shock the nation into a realization of where our app all in the seats of the mighty, today. The author, of the staff of The Nation, makes on hones of attacking our State Department from every angle. Out of the mouths of our diplomats, he convicts them of blindness, stupidity, lack of vision or courage. He names, he marshalls facts, he uncovers skeletons, he places blame for political and criminal negligence, he shows up the Department as brave name-callers, but cowards to backing up their words. He rakes all of the top liners -- Hull, Welles, long objectively, dispassionately, convincingly. He proves the imperative need of a complete housecleaning of the appeasers.
