SELECTED POETRY OF ROBINSON JEFFERS

This has been long awaited. In one volume the author's own selections from his published work comprises about half of his poetry. In a foreword he justifies his selections. These include Tamar, Roan Stallion and shorter poems. The foreword also explaine his conception of poetry, his choice of subjects, the need for stark, realistic substance in a period too given over to the volatile, symbolistic, eccentric, unreal in poetry. Jeffers has become a cult. This should have some first edition value on account of the foreword. And the bringing together of some 125 significant poems should introduce him to a wider public.
