A high spot in rather arid land (this month's non fiction) -- this delightful and entertaining account of Haile Selassie, by a Canadian reporter, who went to Africa and managed to break into the inner sanctum of the court. He gives not only a personal impression of his majesty, but an intimate picture of court life, members of the family, customs, personalities -- and does it supremely well. The Foreword consists of a note from Haile Selassie himself, who gave MacLean on parting with him, a shield and a sword. Easy reading -- and not a war book.
