He gives not only a personal impression of his majesty, but an intimate picture of court life, members of the family, customs, personalities -- and does it supremely well. The Foreword consists of a note from Haile Selassie himself, who gave MacLean on parting with him, a shield and a sword. Easy reading -- and not a war book.
