THE FRIENDLY MOUNTAINS: Green, White & the Adirondacks

Not to be classed with the other regional series, if this is an example, rather is it a collection of essays, most of which are too technical for general consumption. Possibly it will have a scientific market -- perhaps a sporting interest, since it is obviously intended as a guide to the serious explorer and mountain climber. The approach is that of the naturalist, not the historian. Geology, botany, weather and climate -- this would appeal to the scientist; wild life, mountain climbing, skiing are keyed to the amateur lover of the out of doors. Certainly not for the general public.
