A New England school story in the tale of a young headmaster who finds that teaching does not keep him educated, and forsakes the halls of learning for the outer world. A good story, with a real romance, and an indictment of the ""big business"" and of school finances. Likable school boys, the interwoven threads of their lives, the masters, the school itself. Just a suggestion of The Rats of Norway but more popular in appeal. There have been comparatively few stories of American schools, and a great many of English schools. This fills a definite need.
