Lots of giggles with a sly prod to beginning readers in this tale of a silly goose who wanted to be wise. Petunia the goose was delighted when she found a book, for she had heard it said: ""he who owns and loves books is wise"". So Petunia, owning a book, proceeded to love it and considered herself very wise. So did the other animals and soon Petunia became a web-footed Mr. Anthony, making important decisions -- all of which brought forth disastrous results. But when Petunia spells out ""CANDY"" on a box marked ""FIREWORKS"", she discovers in the resultant carnage the book's insides, and decides to learn how to read.
