GAMBLE WITH DEATH

Second half of this doubleheader with the same battery (Wace and Crow) again features a moment musical which ends in murder, that of a professional card crook. Most mysterious part of the book- the jacket with its sinister axe when a knife is the murder instrument used- or perhaps this summation of the victim: ""The swine was no use to me alive and he's bastard all use now he's dead."" ...No less ordinary.
