THE BIRD WATCHER'S ANTHOLOGY

By

Pub Date: Oct. 16th, 1957
Publisher: Harcourt, Brace

Bird-watching, which, depending on the observer, may be ""a superstition, a tradition, an art, a science, a pleasure, a hobby or a bore"", has many devotees (close to ten million in the U.S. is the estimate) and it is for them that this generous anthology has been assembled. Louis Halle, Darwin, W.H. Hudson, Burroughs and Audubon, Donald C. Peattie and Alan Devoe, Florence Jaques and Helen Cruickshank are among the expected contributors- but there are many more who discuss the appeal of this pursuit, bird listing as against bird watching, certain species both here and in more exotic parts of the world, migrations, etc., etc. A companionable collection for those who watch- and wait.
