KIRKUS REVIEW

Peanut Magee, son of a jockey, is only ten when he starts to train the colt, Red Ribbon. The colt's life up to the time of his first big win, is about as hectic as the day when his mother, still carrying him, was bitten by a rattler and crushed Peanut's knee joint in a mad runaway. Terse course.
