DOORWAYS IN THE SAND

Good-natured space operetta in which a symbiotic super-intelligence unaccountably takes a notion to inhabit the body already comfortably occupied by perennial student Fred Cassidy. Fred, an agreeable smart aleck who does his best thinking on the college roofs (he's an acrophiliac), is faintly taken aback when arcane messages start flashing across his consciousness and assorted unsavory types suddenly become interested in his imminent demise. The eventual solution involves large quantities of booze, a couple of intergalactic investigators, an enantiomorphic-stereoisomer-reversing machine, and a black cat. Slight but snappy.
