MEDALS FOR MARINES

It is inevitable that we shall have to put up with a good deal of war material -- scissors and paste jobs -- hastily put together and badly written. Inevitable -- but there's no compulsion to buy it. This is one you can pass up..There have already been better marine books, and some among the 17 marines recorded here are included in the others:- Vandegrift, Fleming, Foss, Edson, etc. With Presidential Citations as springboard, the author gives their exploits, and resumes of their life stories, with action ranging from Guadalcanal, to Midway and Bougainville. Badly organized material, badly overwritten as witness such passages as, -- ""then sunrise came almost swiftly, scratching the mottled cumulus with carmine fingers"". I don't think his ""jyrenes"" would like it.
