LITTLE OWL, KEEPER OF THE TREES

You can almost hear the Himlers chuckling ""ain't we cute"" between the lines as Little Owl meets, under a bridge in the woods, a friendly homed creature named Jonas, who appropriates the devil's food cake (""My cake!"") he's delivering to Possum but otherwise behaves like a guardian angel. Later, Jonas teaches Little Owl to fly by using (and thanking) the winds, and, during the inevitable surprise birthday party at the end (though L.O. had feared that everyone had forgotten), there is Jonas under the table, eating and whispering ""Your cake. And a very good cake it is."" But only if you go for stale crumbs with lots of sticky syrup.
