ALEXANDER MACKENZIE: Canadian Explorer

Alexander Mackenzie's two efforts (the second successful) to find an overland fur route to the Pacific in 1788 are recorded here in vivid terms by a recognized chronicler of explorers. Mr. Syme avoids concocted dialogue, relying almost totally on the diaries of Mackenzie's years in Canada. Mr. Syme seems familiar with the Peace River territory as does William Stobbs who outlines its ruggedness in his atmospheric black and white illustrations.
