THE MAN WHO SOLD CHRISTMAS

By

Publisher: Longmans, Green

A small friar with a big message is Brother Angelo when the Voice tells him to leave the monastery and go to New York City to make a gift of Christmas to the people. God's nearness is upsetting because it takes a while to get proper permission, and his first public appearance brings about a small miracle whose publicity lures the wrong people to see him. But there are four whose need is so great that the young brother responds and the happiness of God runs over for him as he helps a Negro family, an old nun and her young charges, a little boy who is desperate for roller skates and a vagrant. There's a different size miracle for every one in every day happiness and a rewarding sense of achievement for Brother Angelo. If you are an old softie, this is for you -- and it could charm some of the deadpan fraternity too, in its brightly unashamed radiance of belief.
