VICTOR BOOK OF OPERAS

A thorough revision of O'Connell's book published back in 1929. This new book contains over 100 operas, some of them modern light operas, and a number not commonly found in other collections. The arrangement is alphabetical, by title of opera, and each inclusion follows a general plan, a descriptive note placing the opera in the composer's history, notes on the composer, the production, cast of characters, and a descriptive scenario of the plot, act by act. The available RCA- Victor records are given under each opera, and a supplementary listing at the end. The editors are the musical critics of the World Telegram.
