A giant gimmick: choose between one of four low-calorie diets--according to which of four glands is supposedly dominant in your body. Though some work has been done in classifying body types, there is absolutely no known basis for any of this: Abravanel concocted it from his experience as a family practitioner. According to his divisions (to be determined by an elaborate self-test), we are either: thyroid (""the sudden onset of T-type fat""); gonadal (""why does it always go there?""); pituitary (""I'm too old to have baby fat""); or adrenal (""is fat inevitable?""). A special diet is prescribed for each type (""Red Clover Tea is a 'must' for G-type weight loss"")--each a reasonably balanced, low-calorie regimen. To Abravanel's credit, specific forms of exercise are recommended too. The premise may be hokum, in short, but the program won't do any harm. You might even Jose some weight.
