ANN THORNE COMES TO AMERICA

This is the other side of the picture, for here an English girl journalist comes to New York on an assignment -- and makes good. Unfortunately, the plot is so crowded with jewel thieves, gangsters, murders, Bowery joints, et al, that the final impression is the very sort of impression one hates to think can be given of New York to our English neighbors. The author has had some New York experience, in the course of a well rounded newspaper experience as an English journalist, but this doesn't excuse her out of focus picture.
