EXPROPRIATION IN MEXICO: The Facts and the Law

By

Publisher: Morrow

Not a book for the layman, but rather for the legally trained and the experienced lawyer or expert dealing with the oil situation. Against a summary of the events which led to the expropriation, there is set an analysis of the legality according to Mexican jurisprudence. The author proves, quite conclusively, that the seizure was political rather than lawful, since lawful seizure could only be made on the basis of public utility with indemnity. He shows that ""public utility"" is used to cover a multitude of non-existent alibis; he doubts the full payment of indemnity. Very pro oil companies, endorsing their attitude to labor, etc. There is a great deal of textual material drawn from all sorts of cases in the past.
