This book is needed. With the help of Consumers' Union, the Browns, chefs extraordinary, analyze the substances that go into our kitchens, our pantries and a storage shelves. Flours, sugars, flavorings, canned and frozen goods, packaged goods, alcoholic beverages, cleaning supplies, etc., etc. Lots of enticing recipes are tucked in, so this is a cookbook as well as a guide to sound values. My only criticism is that so much diversity of brands, geographically is inevitable, that their lists are unwieldy and impractical for quick survey.
