Shoemaker Smidge of Coopton, Minnemonta, U. S. A. wins an old house in a raffle and so doing, falls into a set of adventures that is pretty fancy fantasy and hard to place in the field of juvenile literature. When Mr. Smidge, elderly though bubblingly young in heart, moves into his new house, he runs into Dr. Damson, a scientist at work on Atomin M- a health agent. Damson turns both himself and a snow goose Scander, into giants- and must work on a counteragent before they can become the right size again. Among the array of histrionics there is the thrill Smidge has flying on Scander, the acclaim when Atomin M. finally comes into its own, etc. But by then we have become exhausted with the ebullience.
