ALBERT THE DRAGON

None of the fearsome legends about dragons could apply to mild, lovable Albert who would never even nibble on a child, no less eat him -- first, because Albert was a vegetarian, and second, because he adored children. By chance his fondest wish comes true when he befriends young Tony and together the two cavort through the Cornwall countryside. On one escapade, Albert (always determined to please) makes a bargain with a knight pledged to defeat him in battle. Knowing his full strength, Albert promises to let the knight win, but since the horse is not in on the ""fix"", the table turns in a hilarious adventure. More fun is in store for boy and dragon involving sea serpents, feather beds, baby dragons and Christmas parties. Each chapter is a unit in itself, ideal for story-hour and equally effective in adding spice and cheer to any read-alone time. Quite English, but the humor transcends national boundaries.
