This one's so supracomplex no normal attention span can retain it let alone explain it. If remembered correctly, it entails the disappearance of a box from a safe with some letters, the failure of a bank and the embezzlement of some funds; also a boy now in his 20's who disappears partly to phase out an earlier memory at eight when he killed his father, and assorted identities, paternities, maternities and casualties. You're there, but where, since Lew Archer is his unflappable self and there's always the flashy gleam of blondes, revolvers and motels.
