THE INSTANT ENEMY

Detective Lew Archer is called in to track down seventeen-year-old Sandy Sebastian who has run off with nineteen-year-old Davy Spanner, a boy with a history of mental disturbance. They both seem to have flipped out when they pull off a seemingly nonsensical kidnapping of an important businessman. And they are products of a perverted past in which Davy, at three was found with a headless corpse that may or may not have been his father, and Sandy, at sixteen, was the victim of a brutalizing sexual experience, Two other murders are exposed before the past catches up to the real villains in a complex fascinator.
