SHOWBOAT SUMMER by Rossmond Du Jardin

SHOWBOAT SUMMER

By

Publisher: Lippincott

Another starry-eyed story about the twins, Pam and Penny Howard, now in college and about to embark on a summer course in dramatics on a Mississippi River showboat. Pam is more interested in acting and Penny in production and helping her boy friend, Mike, with stage work and so forth. As shows and summer progress, the main problem for Pam comes in the form of Geneva Davis, to whose lead Para plays understudy. Quick tempered and unreliable, Geneva is the fly in everyone's ointment so that Pam is given the leads instead, and open animosity flares until some natural disasters and some plain home truths help straighten Geneva out. There are other accomplishments too- an original play by Penny and Mike, and Pain's romance with steady going Jeff. Milk toast.
