KIRKUS REVIEW

A text on addiction is directed toward doctors, social and welfare workers, etc. rather than at the popular audience of Wenzell Brown's Monkey on my Back and as such it is a general diagnosis of the problem based on clinical case histories. Addiction is caused by ""human weakness- not by drugs"" and its underlying causes are neurotic and psychotic in character, its ostensible causes misleading. The types of drugs, sedative and depressant; the features of addiction (habituation, tolerance and addiction) and of its treatment (withdrawal, rehabilitation, reeducation), the control of the traffic as well as the patient, is established and amplified from verbatim accounts.... The market, as indicated, will be a professional one.
