I loved it -- and I have no particular bent towards natural history. But Chapman has dug out from his memory heard as fascinating a group of episodes, anecdotes, bits of unconnected scientific fact and straight information from a long record of research and travel. Birds, beasts, fish, insect life, prehistoric creatures, jewels and stones, fossils and other findings of his ""digs"" -- all put together with no attempt to classify or correlate. And it is utterly absorbing.
