MIK'S MAMMOTH

A slight, predictable tale--about a blond caveman who makes a lot of innovations (garden, pots, art, adopting a cuddly mammoth) after his dark fellow-tribesmen desert him--that is only slightly enlivened by Gerrard's less-than-usually clever doggerel; still, the illustrations of man and mammoth companionably at work are in his familiar, deft, insouciant, critically acclaimed style.
