SUNDIALS by Roy K. Marshall

SUNDIALS

By

Publisher: Macmillan

The former director of the Fels and Morehead Planetariums has gathered together all of the material he could find on sundials from the earliest times forward and all of the photographs, engravings and woodcuts that illustrate the many forms these timepieces have taken. In a smooth and easy prose he sets forth the principles governing sun time. Another chapter presents the intricacies of correcting sundial undial time to standard time. The last chapter gives the step-by-step directions for constructing an accurate sundial. Conversion tables and the ""real"" times for various cities appear at the necessary place near the pertinent text. The book should prove interesting to the growing number of astronomy buffs and it is a good jumping-off place for the idea -less in search of projects for science fairs.
