The regions covered by the Bible, says the author, are those of southwest Asia and northeast Africa comparable in area in the United States from Maryland to Florida and the Atlantic to the Mississippi. These offer varied habitats for many inds of animals, and all those mentioned in the Bible receive attention in this oological study which also takes into account the significance of the creatures in scripture. There are the animals which were worshipped, those clean and unclean, those used as symbols. While referring to them, Roy Pinney gives most of his attention to presenting the animals in systematic order, from mammals to birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, jellyfish and corals, to legendary creatures and the plagues. Supplementary reading most possible for Sunday school application. Illustrated with about 100 photographs of living species.
