BETTER HOUSES FOR BUDGETEERS

Inexpensive small houses, classified according to incomes, range from $1,500, to over $3,700 with illustrations, plans and accompanying text. Liveability, comfort, and convenience, good architecture -- provide plenty of ideas for the home builder, remodeler, real estate developer. The illustrating on green paper with charcoal and Chinese white is easy on the eyes, and effective. The author is known for his domestic design, designed the exhibition house for Life magazine, was awarded a prize in 1933 for the best designed house of the year. There are basic designs and alternates, there are short cuts for economy, there is a chapter on materials, costs, etc, and styles from modern and back again. But everyone will hold with the author's intent that ""the house should be bent to fit the family"" -- and this should be of help for anyone's building.
