Artist Haas shows entrancing three-dimensional animals he has created with styrofoam egg cartons and scissors. Actual instructions for creating and finishing animals are given on three pages; the remainder of the book shows photos of the preliminary outlines of the animals drawn on egg cartons followed by the finished animals. The captions focus on animal lore. The introduction cautions that the artist is a genius and that your first attempts to duplicate the animals may be clumsy, but suggests that practice will produce satisfactory creations and hours of fun trying; thus, the book is more useful for stimulating imaginative viewing of a common household item than for actual craft construction. Adults and older children proficient with scissors will find this an incentive to try three-dimensional animal sculpture using recycled materials.
