This translation of one of the world's great epics in prose retains the rich imagery within a more simple sentence structure than traditional translations have hitherto attained. The compelling, sweeping rhythm is here and there is a minimum of footnotes to distract the reader's attention. A glossary of the important names, places and epithets is included.
