MYSTERY OF THE FLOATING HOTEL

When twelve children, each of different nationalities, set off from Europe to Halifax, the trans-Atlantic steamer which carries them becomes a floating Babel. With the help of an inventive steward, they manage to communicate, each child taking on a number instead of a name. Ten, an English boy, is not at all fond of the Irish and very fond of Huite, a pretty French girl who is also being sought after by State, a young Spaniard. When a passport disappears, Ten establishes himself as Sharlock Holmes, but it is Slate who redeems it. Unable to endure this, seen to that another passport is taken, and with the help of an Irish puppeteer, solves the pseudo mystery. A rather complicated plot, eliptically stated, makes the vehicle here for a funny story in which skillfully drown characters and atmosphere emphasize the theme of international understanding.
