I don't suppose it would be possible for a compilation and selection of Kipling material to satisfy every Kipling fan, but I will say that this includes a more than generous number of my own favorites, and a very representative choice, showing the author from many sides. One complete novel -- The Light That Failed -- is included; a large number of stories, the majority from his pre-war books; one or two essays or interviews; and a good many poems. I missed The Maltese Cat but The Brushwood Boy was there. An ideal introduction to the generation growing up, who seem, for the most part, to be missing out on Kipling. A book that every adult who grew up with Kipling -- and who does not own the complete set -- will find full of nostalgic memories. Sell in both juvenile and general department. Literary Guild for December. It's a good buy.
