This is a one volume abridgement of the six volume Dictionary of American History (1940-61) edited by James Trulow Adams and will serve as a quick, handy reference book for the home, the office, school, etc. From the A. B. C. Conference to Zouaves, it contains special articles from authorities in the field and there is an index which includes cross references for the subjects. The double column page lay out is clean and well leaded; the more than a thousand pages are sturdily bound. A worthwhile investment.
