THE MEDICAL MURDERER by Rupert Furneaux

THE MEDICAL MURDERER

By

Pub Date: March 3rd, 1967
Publisher: Abelard-Schuman

Furneaux has done other collections such as this one (cf. Famous Criminal Cases) which is about some twenty odd physicians who killed although the majority of them, he claims, go undetected. Even though most Of his subjects are now dead, it is hard to think that they could be as lifeless as they appear here since many of them were rather fabulous figures; Dr. William Palmer, Dr. Neil Cream, Dr. Crippen, Dr. Pettiot who set a record in the '40's of 63 victims, etc. The pieces are not much more than extended encyclopedia entries and Furneaux is not much of a crimeannalist or analyst. The bookmaking is equally sloppy: the photo of Sam Sheppard is still in although the chapter on him has been excised, and on the cover there's an anatomy of the stomach with its ""descending colon.""
