Important (a) because of the talk of the possible candidacy of Dewey in the coming election; (b) because Rupert Hughes' name will give it a popular appeal. Actually, the book is as obvious a political build-up book as could be well conceived, granted Dewey's own high character, and Hughes' reputation. There is not much emphasis on the personal or human side, simply a background chapter on his Republican inheritance and traditions, his coming to the cast from Michigan, his start in law. But his political career as D.A. is handled in minute detail-all laudatory.
