THE COMMON SENSE OF SMELL

Not really a serious study of ""Osmics"" but a cloud cover of smell origins, a catalogue of odors gay and goaty, leading up to nothing more than a dim headache. We have the smell of Foods; the Smell of Society (we have a few candidates for this listing--how about the smell of Dying Feudalism? Sun-Washed Socialism?); smells of Vacations and Home; the smell of Danger; etc. There is also a theory about how we smell, something to do with electrical charges but this has all the order of a dry Short Shrift. If not taking a scientific tack, a dabbler in Osmics might have sniffed his way through pastures of poetic dalliance; might have conjured up one of those What Kind of a Smeller Are You? with some jolly self-analysis tests. However, here we are merely treated to a random listing, and chatter. Phew-tile.
