A tale of devotion between man, horse and dog during the last war. Lieutenant Gordon already owned Dusty, the hound, and when he was assigned a horse and picked Shaggy, a sorrel with personality, the relationship was complete. When Gordon was wounded it was the neighing of the horse on a silent battlefield that brought help. The master repays this debt by leaving Shaggy in France where he would have a good home. A good story, simply -- yet effectively told.
