FOREVER THE LAND

By

Pub Date: Feb. 15th, 1949
Publisher: Harper

A ""country chronicle"" which combines a personal commentary by Russell Lord, the illustrations of his wife- some 100 line outs (she illustrated Bromfield's Malabar Farm, Pleasant Valley) and collected pieces from the quarterly- The Land- which Lord edited. For the past ten years Russell Lord has been a primer mover in the Friends of the Land society, which is a ""Non-Profit, Non-Partisan Association for the Conservation of Soil, Rain and Man"". This tells of that society, its records and resolutions; it also tells of Lord's other affiliated activities, from a job in Washington, to a farm of his own, work on Flaherty's film documentaries, etc. and the constant fight for forest and water conservation. From the magazine itself, there are all kinds of sketches, poems, articles, an occasional book review, and among the contributors you will find Stuart Chase, Bromfield, Clare Leighton, N.B. White and others. The whole reflects all phases of agrarian living, from economic despair to great personal satisfaction. For a special market.
