GUESTS, OR HOW TO SURVIVE HOSPITALITY

By

Publisher: Harper

Again the dissection with distaste by the author of last year's uncompromising is applied to the problem of the host-guest question with neither coming off too well. In chosen types of situations concerning bores, weekending guests and hosts and hostesses, he lets few get through the eye of the needle, which is exceedingly sharp when applied to failings and foibles of the species. He presents social lessons for defense, analyzes the results of the disintegration of formality -- casual entertainment and informal living leaving the host and/or guest defenseless -- and trains his guns on good and bad manners in social intercourse. You'll find many recognizable types here and make a few vows to polish up your own polite gestures- that's for sure. There are illustrations by the author. A natural for a bread and butter or hostess gift- if you dare!
