TIME FOR A PARTY

By

Publisher: McGraw-Hill

The Complete Home Party Book -- so the subtitle reads, and, although one could be captious over the use of the word ""complete"", it is a very comprehensive handling of a subject close to the hearts of many women and girls. The text falls into two main sections:- I- information valuable in planning parties; II- Complete analysis of planning of specific parties, following a wide variety of themes. Throughout Mrs. Brent stresses the importance of keeping a record of your Party Plan, of doing all possible in advance; of following a prepared schedule for the day itself. Hints on how to be a good host and hostess, how to be a good guest should be provocative. Menu planning, decorations, methods of serving, kinds of parties (large, small, coffee breaks, luncheons, tea parties, cocktail parties, showers, wedding parties, birthday and anniversary parties, family holiday parties, picnics) all this and more provide the howto for the progressive hostess. Not much space is devoted to children's parties, but teen agers have their share. There is data on invitations, on table setting, on marketing intelligently, on games to play. And it is all geared to today's maidless household, and the stringencies of time and money.
