I DON'T LIKE IT!

A little gift forgets her toys when she gets a puppy; her doll polls the other toys and finds that they are glad to have some peace, but the doll herself is bereft and lonely. Insult is added to injury when pup hides the doll; all comes right when he finds her again at bedtime, when the child really needs her after all. A nice metaphorical alternative to the many more literal stories about new siblings; especially notable are Brown's adroit watercolors, bright with the unusual toys.
