BECAUSE OF BATTY'S BOOTS

Very British tale of three children's adventurous chase of cattle thieves -- all because young Batty insists on wearing his gum boots to Thumbleby Christmas Market. His suspicions of the Villain and the Face, are confirmed by his older brother and sister, Bill and Mop, and from then on, they borrow money from strangers, borrow (to be polite) automobiles, get in wrong with the police, are unconsciously kidnapped, acquire three helpful conspirators, and eventually balk the thieves, and return the cattle to the right people. Some of the English phrasing, customs, will take a bit of explaining, but there is a fresh charm to the tale and the characters.
