The object of this book is to present an account of the great world religions in simple form for laymen of all faiths. Although the author is a Christian, she has written appreciatively of the other religions, her thesis being that the nations and races of the world must understand and appreciate each other's philosophy of life and basic ideals if we are to achieve a world society. The study includes Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity and Mohammedanism and concludes with a chapter outlining the principles underlying all religions. In the consideration of each religion there is given a brief sketch of the life of the Founder, the basic principles taught by the Founder, the way these principles are applied in social and practical life, the chief sources of strength and weakness and the position of each faith in the world today. This is a readable and valuable book for the laity rather than the clergy.
