LEIF KRICSON, EXPLORER

Second book in the Makers of America biography series for young readers, this is a simplified treatment of the copious, semi-fantastical legends and stories about Leif Ericson and his voyages -- stories about Lief's boyhood in Iceland, his father's banishment, voyages and settlement in Greenland, and of course, the famous voyage to Vinland, the new land. Although the style has a straight-faced, bland, text-book quality, this is an easily-handled version of one of history's great voyages.
