THREE TRUMPETS

His expensive trumpet lost through his own carelessness, Eddie Cleveland is required to earn enough money to pay for a new one. Unfortunately he is distracted from the line of duty by the arrival of Robin and Lynn and a stable of Welsh ponies. From the first moment Eddie ventured into the riding school, he was fascinated by the skill of Robin and Lynn. The excitement of subsequent horse shows captivated him and the lovable though temperamental behavior of his favorite pony, Tara, provided the most interesting challenge. Yet through the entire development of his new interest, the debt continues to cast a shadow, compounded by Eddie's desire to own Tara. Roused to further action, he tries his hand at odd jobs -- berry-picking, cat-sitting etc., until the money begins to grow. By dint of his own effort Eddie learns that things achieved in life are based on one's ability to work, an important lesson for any growing boy. In general this is a warm, homey story enlivened by a sprightly group of Welsh ponies, guaranteed to attract kindred spirits among ""horseophiles"".
