CURTAIN TIME by Ruth Harvey

Pub Date: Sept. 27th, 1949

A nice scrapbook of things as they were, this has a full share of family life as well as life as a theater manager's daughter. With two houses to live in -- home and the theater -- visiting stars, and road companies, knowledge of behind the scenes mechanics, the author remembers a childhood of great excitement and glorious plays. Ben Hur, Uncle Tom's Cabin and many others provided wonderful ideas for new games, Schumann-Heink, Anglin and many another actor offered a wide variety of stories and intimate meetings, and Winnipeg was a lovely city to come home to after traveling...A pleasant, believable picture of years spent around a theater, this is a good antidote for the too-glamorous, impossible stories usually encountered.
