It's a textless book of well drawn pictures so clear in story intent that the small child who wants to read to you before he has learned how can fake along like a master. Whiskers is a shaggy poodle puppy whose lead breaks and he dashes away from his young owner after a rabbit into the woods where there is a villainous fox for threat and a comfortably furnished rabbit hole for safety. Its use as an aid to insure book interest is obvious. Its Value as a tool to encourage and stretch the imagination seems infinitely greater than plastic pistols and tin pot rockets.
