KIRKUS REVIEW

Even tiny children love to see things grow, and this is a picture book about a carrot seed that grew. The publishers, in choosing Crockett Johnson, creator of Barnaby and Mr. O'Malley, as illustrator, have picked the ideal person for the job. Barnaby seems to tickle the funny bone of three to six as much as he does their elders. This is the story of a small boy who plants a carrot seed, waters it and cultivates it and ignores the scepticism of his elders. Faith (and care) win out and it comes up, the biggest carrot in many counties.
